  1. Even though this is not totally directed to the quick service food industry, This slide show showcases our groups other very important dynamic. Social media. This slide show, includes ideas, beliefs, facts, and notions that make you the individual think. While surfing the web, what is your purpose? You should progress with a purpose not digress with unfulfilled pleasures. The Idea is brilliant! Time-Attitudes-Tools-Channels. These pillars of social media if you will are key to the foundation we are trying to lay in this class with regard to our presentation on Jan. 21st. As a business man or women you are constantly trying to make your establishment more appealing, gain market share in an already saturated market place, as well bolster your bottom line. Day by day, and keep your investors happy. This is all done through hard work, which gives you a bit of power and hopefully prestige. (Robert Merton 1908) I quote this Robert Merton because still to this date he is one of if not the most respected Conflict theorist is history. Further more, Merton makes a point in his thoughts that in order to attain wealth, power and prestige, you must get a good job, work hard and have and education. Well in todays, world having wealth comes from those traits, but also finding ways to be better then the next guy. With the advent of Social media, namely the 2004 burst of Myspace & Facebook social media has helped many businesses with their penetration on new markets and customer demographics. This has never been more true for quick service food companies, applications like Facebook and others allow not only people to hear about your place, buy what is new, what is happening with the company, maybe what coupons you have that are worth printing out, coming up with new and exciting advertisements that when done right can reinvent your image or remind everyone you are still as hot as the day you first opened your doors for business. The beauty of social media channels like the ones I have stated before it the ease of use and the limit of capital required. This slide show how to push you brand the right way and a new way. Enjoy!

  2. After watching the slide show, I now see the importance of social media in oru everyday lives. The advertising aspect is such an important role for companies because it gets their brand out, and makes it known to others. The use of advertising builds the character of a business and how it responds to negative social media also builds upon its core values. In the slide show, I went over and watched the dominoes slide show. And afterwards I felt that the president of Domino's did a commemorable job in addressing the issue and re-evaluated their management positions. He comes out and speaks right upon the issue and says the very precautionary steps it took to sanitize the establishment so that it would meet company standards.
    With the average person viewing over 3,000 advertising messages a day, it is easy to see the significance of social media upon businesses today. Quick service is a great example, because everyday you see ads of new products on the menu yet we still hear of the horrific stories people have had eating at some of these quick service restaurans. Yet how do they still survive and make money? Well with constantly newer ads that help change the perception of their brand in the consumer's eyes is a way to reverse some of the negative social media out there.
